Heating & Electrical Design at a contemporary Putney Mews House
Over the last 18 months, the team at Bright Spark have been working with our clients on their house renovation project in Putney, South West London. The Mews property was originally split into two flats over garages but the owners had the vision to convert this space and added a basement level creating a modern mews house.
The Brief:
Bright Spark were brought in to design and supply the electrical installation, heating and hot water installation and install Solar PV. We focused on creating a functional design but “smart controlled” including data and sound. It was also important that the building was sustainable. Over 5kms of cable was installed across the four floors and underfloor heating was installed throughout.
Solar
We installed a 3.68 kw Solar PV System directly into the roofing tiles using GSE integration to reduce visual impact on the property and to save money long term on the electricity bills.
Internal Installation
The original shell of the existing buildings were completed gutted so we had a blank canvas for the first fix electrical and plumbing. We worked with the builders following their programme and helping them understand what we needed for a high spec finish. Firstly, the electrical team had a blank canvas to install the first fix phase of the project with over 4kms of electrical cable being installed..
Inside the property, we installed Heatmiser Underfloor Heating with Smart Controls for each floor allowing our clients to manage and control all aspects of their heating and hot water from the comfort of their mobile phone or tablet.
We also installed decorative wall and ceiling mounted plaster flush lighting throughout the property, along with decorative edge lighting in the basement and level mood lighting in all the bathrooms under cabinets controlled by a PIR to reduce the need for main lighting throughout the night.
Sound, Vision and Data were installed to create a “technology rich” environment. A projector and surround sound were installed into the fabric of the building in the basement to create a mini cinema room. Speakers were also installed in other parts of the house running from a zone control system.
Security
For security and convenience, a Nest Hello Doorbell, Smart Door Lock and Security Camera were installed to allow the house to not only be safe but also accessible when the clients are staying away – giving them peace of mind.
