Reducing Energy Costs at a large Primary School

The team at Bright Spark Energy alongside the White Horse Federation have just completed the implementation of a 50 KWp Solar PV system at Forest and Sandbridge School in Melksham, Wiltshire.

The system was designed to specifically maximise savings on rising energy costs and reduce the schools impact on the environment. It is important to Forest and Sandbridge school they work alongside us to preserve the balance between what we take from our environment and what we put back into it. With this goal in mind, the staff and children we’re very excited that together, we are taking the next step in this important journey with the installation of solar photovoltaic panels.

Installation work began in February and took 5 days to complete, we were very lucky with the weather although cold, there were plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies. The large roof was ideal for panels and though works were carried out during term time, there was very little disruption to the school.

These solar panel electricity systems will capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells and convert it into usable electricity to power the school. These ingenious systems do not need direct sunlight to work, as they can generate electricity even on cloudy days. Resulting, in a cleaner way to provide energy schools and a greener way to power pupils learning.
