The Challenge
After settling into their new home, the homeowners were looking for ways to gain energy independence and reduce their electricity bills. With two electric vehicles in daily use, they wanted a solar energy solution that could cover their household consumption and power their EVs—maximising both savings and sustainability.
The Solution
Bright Spark Energy designed and installed a bespoke SolarEdge solar energy system that combined clean generation, smart monitoring, and intelligent battery storage.
System Components:
- 17 x 500W JA Solar high-efficiency panels (all black, with full bird mesh)
- 5kW SolarEdge SE5000H Home Hub inverter with S500 optimisers
- 10kWh SolarEdge Home Battery
- SolarEdge 7.2kW EV Charger
- App-based monitoring and control
- Full MCS certification and DNO notification
- Option for future hot water integration and off-grid backup
The solar panels were split between east and west roof orientations to maximise energy production throughout the day.
The Results
Since its installation in September 2024, the system has been generating over 4,760 kWh per year—covering the family’s daily usage and powering their electric vehicles with clean, home-generated energy. Excess power is exported back to the grid via the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG).
