Earlier this year, Bright Spark Energy completed the installation of a 30 KWp Solar PV system at Bowerhill Primary School in Bowerhill, Meaksham as part of the White Horse Federation.
The school is committed to embracing environmentally friendly working practises and doing its part to ensure our planet is protected long into the future.
The project will not only generate long term savings for the school but also significantly minimise its impact on the environment. In fact, the school could reduce its energy bills by up to 80% meaning less expenditure on utilities and more money that can be reinvested back into the school and learning facilities.
We installed the Solar Panels on one south facing roof with the majority of the work being completed outside of school hours to minimise any disruption to the school.

Some facts and figures about the project:
- Installation of 90 JA Solar Panels and 1 Solis 30KWp Inverter
- Generating an estimated net surplus of £ 1,097 in Year 1 and £ 84,000 over 20 years
- Estimated to generate 27,750 kWhs per annum
- Significant reduction in CO2
- Benefit from the FITs subsidies for the next 20 years
In addition to providing a cleaner source of energy, these panels represent the White Horse Federation’s commitment to expanding the resources available to Bowerhill Primary School. When the school is not using all of the energy produced, it can be exported back to the grid, meaning the school will also receive an export tariff income.
